Use Open Shell here on two PC's and Classic Shell on one and have never had an explorer crash and I do a lot of file management. That doesn't mean there might not be a problem with Open Shell or Windows or even something else that doesn't like OS / CS that some of us haven't got. Probably tempting fate now!

Ok the response could have been a bit more diplomatic but I've seen far worse responses from Developers both professional and Open Source, some can be quite brutal! Developers are often not good at customer relations or diplomacy ;o)

Agree- most people don't experience this. Nor had I for many years. Classic Shell's forum lists a good number of such reports with various versions over the years.

I use CS 4.3.1 on w10 v1809 17763.292 with no issues. I only installed the Classic Shell menu part though. All other options were unticked during installation.

From the number of reports on classic shell's and open shell's forum only a few people experience and report this problem. But it is clearly a known and acknowledged scenario to the respondents on those forums, who advise the use of procdump to try to trace this.

Open Shell 4.4.134 & Bug Reporting

RE: Open Shell Issues & bug reporting

    dalchina:

Sorry I was out of town for a bit. I am actually disappointed here as well. I will have a talk with him to find out what his 'issue' is. I do know that a lot of coders (unlike myself) are somewhat shall I say 'intolerant' and 'short tempered' with respect to those users who may (in their minds) ask a question or something that seems trivial or something to where they are unwilling to search and figure things out for themselves.

This of course is no excuse for acting what I would call inappropriate when dealing with users who are not coders. I can and do apologize for it, however, as I do not officially 'own' or have full control over the project, cannot speak for him or others. I can only speak for myself and while I would never disrespect someone in your position [or any position], unfortunately I am unable to (in some cases) alter someone else's attitude.

I fully agree with your point of view and will bring this up. You [and others] have to understand that this is purely volunteer and no one gets paid for any of this and while that being said there is NO excuse in my mind to dismiss someones question or comments or to side step the issue brought up. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

FYI, the latest release is 4.4.134 and address several issues. The link below will let you download it directly.

    Download Open-Shell 4.4.134: https://ci.appveyor.com/api/buildjob...4-xsmockno.exe
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me know if you still have any issues with this release [if you choose to re-install it] and I will get on top of it.

    Tnx

P.S. dalchina - I tried to send you a private message however your mailbox seems to be stuffed beyond the limits....heh..

    Hi

Sure thing. It's the right thing to do. I wish all users could have more patience with FAQ's/Bug reports, etc.

Thanks, much appreciated. I would like to apologise for any offence I may have caused. I did not intend such.
Yes- just got a flurry of messages about my inbox today - sorry about that- have deleted some recently, but seems only possible 1 by 1.

There is a second member of this forum apparently reporting a similar problem
Windows Explorer Freezes after wakeup - Windows 10 Forums

I can confirm the problem remains on one PC, which has a lot of things installed, and on which CS ran perfectly for the first 3 years or so. On this PC (Thinkpad) which has much less installed, but some GUI tweaks in common with the other, it's fine.

Thanks again for your kind reply. I fully appreciate the voluntary nature of everyone's involvement, being a voluntary member of tenforums.

All of the CS branding needs to be replaced with Open Shell, especially the url for an update
