    Hi there

skype works just fine -- there's in the settings options for using built in computer microphone if it has one / webcam with built in microphone etc -- just disable the video if you don't want other people to see your "ugly mug". At meetings as well you can mute all sorts of things

I can't see what the problem is as any skype recording you make isn't on public domain. It's even easier in a business environment with SKYPE FOR BUSINESS -- think that's now part of OFFICE suite if you have Ms Office.

Personally I've found skype excellent and cheap - far better and cheaper than international phone calls - even with EU / EEA roaming rates capped. (Not getting into Brexit stuff - I'm sure half the planet is 100% bored with it now !!!! ).

Just saying as of today still cheaper to use skype than international roaming charges (however cheap) from almost any country to any other. No reason why you can't use it on a mobile phone too --certainly on an android phone.

I do prefer though the older interface (as on Linux) than the new "dumbed down" simpler menus on Windows. You can still install the old gui though.

    Cheers

    jimbo,

How would I install the older skype interface?

Skype is hands-down a really valuable piece of software. I used to do a lot of calls to overseas clients. With Skype it was all FREE, FREE, FREE. Biggest issue was the time zone differences.

    Hi there @x509

    Download Skype Classic (7.41.0.101 7.40.0.104)

Read the whole article though as Ms is trying to "Sabatoge" people using older version by blocking logon screen on version 7.4 with an update nag for people to "upgrade" ha ha !! to that hideous V8 -- the version 7.36 version works perfectly though. Remember also NOT to update skype after installing it. The link to 7.36 is also in the article.

Why on earth does Ms ruin perfectly good software with horrible new Gui updates -- Outlook in latest version of office, skype etc etc. Perhaps they should have had more genuine engineers working there --- "If it ain't broke -- don't fix it" -- Always remember when I was a young lad a retired scottish clyde shipbuilder who was one of our instructors while I was doing an apprenticeship drummed that in to me --still been one of the best pieces of advice I ever had.

Interface on Linux is still fine though if you use Linux.

    Cheers

I'm still trying to find a fix for this problem.

When I use the built-in "Voice Recorder" that comes with Windows 10 it records my voice perfectly, but the other person's voice is very, very soft and it's VERY hard to hear anything from the other person...

Is there anything else I can do without installing another app?

I've got Audacity installed so could I use that somehow?I'm still trying to find a fix for this problem.

Well I'd prefer to use something built into Windows 10. I just finished upgrading to 1809, but I'm not sure if this added any "audio recording" features?

Why don't you want to use Skype's built in feature?

    Your original question was :

I have Audacity installed and running so it'd be great if I could record Skype calls using Audacity or some kind of built in feature of Windows 10?
If you don't want to use Audacity that is fine but it was what you originally asked.

If you don't want to use the built in Skype recording either then you are probably a bit stuck.

    Your replies are appreciated.

I just finished upgrading to Windows 10 Pro 1809. Is there anything in this new major update that can help me?
