    Skype: How To Record Calls?

    Hi computing experts,

I just want to record the audio content of my Skype calls between me and one other person into any kind of audio format. I'm not wanting to record video.

I know it's possible to record Skype calls from within the Skype now, but I don't want to use that feature.

I don't want to install a 3rd party app. I have Audacity installed and running so it'd be great if I could record Skype calls using Audacity or some kind of built in feature of Windows 10?

Can someone please help me with this?

    Thank you for any help!

    I just had an idea:
What if I used the built in sound recorder in Windows called 'Voice recorder' and then used Audacity to record the audio coming from the other person's voice on Skype?

What's the easiest way to record audio in Audacity so I can record the other person's voice in Skype?

I use built-in Voice Recorder to record Skype audio conversations to give me a record of what was said or promised. It will record both ends thru the mic in m4a format. Just push the start button in VR any time you want to start up.

Okay I just tried using the inbuilt "Voice Recorder" app and my voice comes across as clear, but the other person's voice isn't as loud...

What else can I try as far as built in apps into Windows 10?

    Game Bar.

PS recording of calls can be illegal without permission in some countries - it is in UK.

    Hi there @cereberus

How is it then if you phone a typical "service" company up in the UK e.g for train tickets, Internet server access, Credit card queries, Banks etc you invariably hear a message "Your Call may be recorded for training and informational purposes".

Presumably if you prefix your call with that message it must be legal -- and these days recording calls seems eminantly sensible so you have proper data to present to Police , Banks, Credit card queries / other authorities in case of Frauds, Scams, credit card billing errors and illegal cold callers.

I'm sure going to Court without having any sort of audit trail won't help you win your case one bit even if you are 100% the person being wronged.

I belive there's an excellent piece of hardware in UK called TruCall which gets a load of highly rated reviews.

They have to tell you by law and you can decline it of course. By carrying on the call you are implicitly giving permission.
