    Weather app

    Win 10 ver 1809 build 17763.253

    RE : Weather app issue

Each time I open Start Menu, the Weather will show Ottawa as the location. BUT I am NOT in Ottawa.
If I click at the weather tile, it will show the correct location I am residing.
I know I have the correct location configured into the app.
So, how come it show Ottawa when Start Menu is opened ?

This, along with the live tile stopping working after you open the Weather app, appears to be a bug in the latest update for the Weather app: 4.28.3242.0

Latest weather app update partially breaks the live tile - Page 5 - Windows 10 Forums

You think you have problems, if I try to set one particular location here in the UK I get the weather for a place in Australia with the same name
And when I do manage to set a UK town, I invariably get London on the live tile.

Only MS can fix this, all we can do is keep reporting the bug in the Feedback Hub.

Why is Android operated pcs in particular, and other OSes such as Linux and IOS in general not able to overtake Windows in computer market ?

Business sector and computer experts aside, I think most of us "regular" home users were lured into buying Windows because of our inadequate knowledge of computer technology together with Microsoft's successful marketing ploy.
    I know I was.
Now that I have an Android tablet and an Android mini pc, I am using them more often that my 3 Windows PCs.
I am old, but I still have a life to live which does not include baby-sitting a Windows operated computer.

I also like Linux, on the gnome desktop I run openweather, at a glance it tells me temp and basic stuff on the top bar without clicking a thing. I find I miss that in windows. Something similar would be run in the task bar.

As to why Linux does not take over, well it is inertia, and maybe some apps, but it is slowly changing a little. MS also now likes linux. Years ago I started using linux, and one thing I noticed right away was the lack of problems with malwares. And since there is no comprehensive overarching registry in Linux, things are maybe more stable or robust..

This bug has already been fixed in the insiders builds so soon it will be fixed in the public build, a few days ago I had announced the fix of another bug, but I was not sure if Microsoft had also fixed the bug mentioned in this thread, that's why I didn't mention it here, but today Microsoft has officially announced the fix:

I noticed the bug as well, all of my PCs as well as client PCs at work have been showing Washington DC.

An idea flashed across my mind after reading your reply. My speculation :

You are in USA. Your incorrect location is ……. Washington DC
I am in Canada. My incorrect location is ………….. Ottawa.
What do the above 2 have in common ?
They are the capital city of their respective country.

I wonder if other members having this "wrong location" issue can confirm that they have their capital city incorrectly posted as their location.

So.... the Country we entered at initial setup is registered in the computer program which I assume have a data base of capital city of each country in this Wild Wild World. And I do mean "Wild Wild".
The built-in Weather app then subsequently enters the capital city as default Location of that particular computer...….
