Is it possible to rename Apps to something else?

    I'll make this quick...

I want to rename some of my Apps listed below.
This used to be possible, AFAIK but not in 1809.

Here is an example in the red box.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

What you show looks like a custom Toolbar list...

... right click on each and choose 'Rename'.

    Good point.

Actually, it's from the Apps flyout on Classic Shell.
Using the default W10 Start Menu -> Apps, there isn't a way as well.

    Give it a go...

In the default W10 Start Menu..., no, you can't.

I'm sure you can within Classic Shell, though.

I can't give it a go cuz I don't have any UWP Apps!

The entries in the standard start menu are just shortcuts held here ... C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs or C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs .... so renaming these is just a case of renaming the shortcuts. I have to assume that the same thing is the case with the start menu replacements, which I've never found a reason to use.

The Universal apps are held somewhere in the bowels of the system (I don't use them at all if possible ) but it should be possible to create a shortcut to point to them which could be called whatever you wish

You can create custom UWP shortcuts but, you have to rename them, assign a custom icon and, when the app is open, it will have a blank Taskbar thumbnail, whether you open it from the real shortcut or the custom one!
(I did this on my 'lappy'!)

The only UWP apps I have, on my PC, are Settings and Defender...

That is the definition of insanity, lol.

Just like the simple task (not) of creating a simple desktop shortcut and dragging it down to the Toolbar. I remember that one.

    Thanks for the replies!

I'm just glad the UWP app shortcuts don't show up on the Start Menu with folders full of useless help me files, web links, etc. and no way to get at them!!!

(SHHHHHHH!!! Don't give em any ideas!!!)
