    Removing metadata from photos

Before I share photos I would like to remove all metadata attached to them. I follow the instructions on Windows Explorer but when I next check I notice that in properties/details there is still a lot of information like dates and dimensions and owner, etc. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is supposed to work?

I thank all in advance for and help and advice.

You can't delete that as far as I know it's required by windows. The details you wish to remove are used for permissioning and only exist on your local computer. When you share that file elsewhere, the details will not be in the file.

Well, Callender, I sent an email to myself with a "cleaned" photo attached. When I received it I saved the attachment and when I opened the properties/details all the information was there. This is what I don't understand.

You need to open it on a different machine. Windows puts that info there and if opening the file on another machine you will see a different owner etc.

Download this photo (metadata removed) and open it. Compare your info with what I see on my machine.

I see this. You should see different info.

    Hello Callender.
The top picture is exactly the same; the bottom picture shows information about *MY* computer not yours.
Once again, I thank you. I now understand. Regards from Canada and Happy New Year.

One simple method I have been using is to open photo on my PC, then take a screenshot of it and share it instead of original photo.

An example, here's a screenshot I made of a photo, there's no EXIF information shown about what camera was used, where and when the photo was taken, and so on. You can use any tool you can think of, you cannot find any useful EXIF / metadata information about this photo:
