OneDrive never did its job on my new SurfaceGo

    Good morning all,

OneDrive never functioned properly on my new Surface Go, I have the following issues.

    A) After freshly installing the Onedrive app from the MSStore all seems ok, although I have no idea where the local onedrive is located. All files and folders show up, but new files added by phone or notebook never show up.

    B) When I take a photo with my Surface Go this photo shows up in a different (at least I think it is a different one) Onedrive at C: USERS MYNAME ONEDRIVE CAMERAROLL

    C) None of the files or folders mentioned at A show up in the Onedrive mentioned at B.

    D) All seems to work ok on my Win10 Notebook and my Android Phone, they all sync with each other and with the online Onedrive.

All help is appreciated because it would be a pitty when I have to downgrade to an Android or Apple tablet.

    Thanks in advance !

    GL

You have to tell the Onedrive sync app which folders that you want it to sync.

You have to dump one drive and use google drive.
It's free. It's simple. It's rock-solid reliable. Much more so than one drive.

    Thanks for this suggestion #55

I have moved away from Google because they are becoming too big and are on purpose hiding options and are dishonest / unclear to users so they can not disable settings they do not like. So I have changed the following

    Email from Gmail to Outlook
    Search from Google to Bing
Online storage from Dropbox to OneDrive
    Browser from Chrome to Edge
Office , was already using MS Office

Now that OneDrive works I have no complaints, although I need to get used to the Bing searchengine and often still need to revert to Google.

Thanks Bro. Problem is that that is impossible. No way to tell onedrive, but ……………..

Just located the file OneDriveSetup.exe on my OS drive.

So I uninstalled the app and ran this exe

This seemed to have solved all issues.

OneDrive works as expected, even asked what folders to sync, and I do not need the app anymore.

Only one big disadvantage, opening OneDrive takes the SurfaceGo out of Tablet mode and in to Desktop mode. Basically it uses the file explorer. So everything is very tiny.

What a pitty Microsoft does not allow to use OneDrive in tablet mode.

In case there is a way around this so I can have the tablet experience as when using the app please do let me know.

I am running my table in safe mode, so that means I can not do suggested tweak.

Does keeping your tablet in S Mode mean that you can't create a desktop shortcut?
