    Unverified App Attempts to Install After Every Restart


    Every time I restart my PC for the past month or so I get the standard prompt "The app you're trying to install isn't a verified app from the Store." This notification only offers the two options of installing the app anyways or getting a similar app from the App Store. No other information about what app is attempting to be installed is offered. I tried looking through the task manager and I can't find anything indicating what it could be.

    Is there a simple means of finding out what keeps on trying to install itself? I have run several scans with Windows Defender without anything popping up, but I am concerned it could be some form of virus.

    The OS is Windows 10 with latest updates installed.

    describe this situation usefully.

    If you're intending to install programs downloaded from anywhere on the internet (which was the only choice pre-Store) then the second is immediately helpful.

    No one forces you to use the Store - there are thousands upon thousands of programs not available via the Store.

    dalchina your suggestion doesn't address my question. I am not concerned about blocking the notifications or how to install something outside of the store, as those are pretty easy tasks. My concern is that I am getting that notification when I am not attempting to download or install anything, and I want to know why. More specifically, I want to know how to determine what is attempting to install itself.

    App installs, failed or otherwise, are usually recorded in Reliability History.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Click the option to install and see what happens. You might find out what is trying to install.

    Some programs auto-update themselves- have you considered that?
