Latest weather app update partially breaks the live tile

Beware. I just went into store and manually checked for updates. Updates for News, Money, Sport and Weather native apps came down the pipe. The update for the weather app has partially broken it's live tile. It works but it refuses to cycle. And then if you actually open the weather app and close out the live tile no longer displays. Just it's generic icon/display. The only way to kick it into life is to log out and then log back in. And then it'll display info and cycle to it's 2nd screen and then just stay that way

Not easy to avoid the update. If you have set to auto it'll come through. If you set manual, then you can avoid until you click check for updates whereupon the store will find them and just irritatingly auto update the apps waiting for an update without giving you a choice and whether to actually download said update. I know it's a minor app but I liked the live tile and am once again exasperated by Microsoft and their inability to do things properly or test their updates!

4.28.3242 (yesterday) Weather app - just pinned to Start (1809, latest) - seems fine. The tile, that is. The weather- mostly showers!

dalchina, now click on the tile to open Weather, see your the live tile works after that. I have just reproduced the effects Scottyboy99 described on three machines, two on 1809 and one on 1803. Open Weather then close it and the live tile becomes the generic 'Weather' icon. On all machines the previous version 4.26.12153.0 had been working fine until it was updated to 4.28.3242.0.

-agreed, launching the app from that and closing it kills the tile.

As @Scottyboy99 says, signing out then back in gets the tile working again - until you open the app.

I have tried restarting the PC, still misbehaves. Reinstalling and resetting as per @Brink's tutorial also does not fix this. The app is definitely broken

Edit: while I've been investigating this on one machine, I had another left idle with its 'broken' tile. After 20 minutes or so it started working again of its own accord (broke again when I opened the app though).

I followed all the steps to reproduce it here and mine still works.

Just to confirm, you have updated Weather and it is version 4.28.3242.0?

What version of Windows do you have?

Edit: is it just a coincidence that all the problems are reported by UK users, or is that relevant to the issue?

@Bree -- USA (Florida) here. Same issue with the weather app. On my machine, the app will come back to life if I just let the computer idle for about 15-20 minutes. Windows 10 1809 (latest).

Thanks, that seems to rule out a regional issue then.

Add another one to the MS fix-it list.
