I'm wondering if those for whom the Live Tile still works after opening the updated Weather app sign in with a Microsoft Account.

I don't use an MS account. Perhaps that's the difference?

I use a live id login. Even minimising the Weather app kills the tile.

I use a local account and have the problem. My neighbor uses an MS account and has the problem.

EDIT -- Something slightly different this morning. I purposely opened and closed the weather app and as expected it stopped rotating and became generic in start. But, instead of leaving the computer idle for 15-20 minutes like I did last night to let the app start again, I kept working with the machine and the app started up in roughly 2 minutes. App is still version 4.28.3242.0

    Thanks for that info.

Interesting. My '20 minutes' was the same whether the machine was the one I was using of another machine being left idle. I'll time it on this machine and see if that changes. I'm up to three minutes so far on this one....

With all of the different computer configurations that exist it's not surprising that these MS issues behave differently. That's what makes it difficult for MS to diagnose and fix (if they even bother to try) and leaves users frustrated. On the flip-side, we have this forum and thanks to the members who are so generous with their time and expertise, we often find solutions or a way around a problem. Failing that, at least we can get a confirmation that we're not alone. For me, TenForums is continuing education at its finest.

Mine's back in action again... could it be triggered into life by a data update?

Just noticed in the MS Store, under downloads and updates, my MSN Weather, News, Money and Sports apps all updated yesterday and all have the same version number 4.28.3242.0. Weather's the only app having this issue. And now, instead of coming back to life in 2 minutes like it did earlier this morning, it looks like it's going to take the 15-20 minutes (or longer) after another test. @dalchina, I hope you're right as I really like using the weather app.

EDIT -- Weather app's back after another test. Took roughly 10 minutes to resurrect.

I'm not yet ready for my degree -- but -- sticking around here I'm sure I'll graduate with one.

You will never graduate, or if you do there are always post-graduate studies to take. I'm still finding so much to learn here.

As for my timed test started in post #24, at 45 minutes and counting the live tile has still not recovered....
