Tile size doesn't seem to matter - started working again - perhaps after sleep/resume - I changed from med to small and minimising the Weather app killed the tile. Changing to wide- still dead.

All tile sizes from small to large can be Live, and all sizes 'break' in the same way. Opening the Weather app will stop the live tile working, minimising or closing the app makes no difference once the tile is 'broken'. The live tile seems to be able to spontaneously recover after 20 minutes or so. Resuming from hibernation does not seem to have any effect on speeding up this recovery. Neither does changing the tile size after it has stopped working.

I have now reported it in the Feedback Hub. As I don't use an MS Account I can't follow its progress though...
Just wondering if anyone's seen any progress on the Feedback Hub regarding partially broken weather app version
    4.28.3242.0. Like @Bree, I don't have an MS account so I can't follow.

There is a small new twist to the problem. If you're first setting up the weather app after it updated to the version in question, when the tile does rotate, the location it shows (in the USA) is Washington, DC, regardless of the location entered inside the app. (Got that info from two friends setting up new computers. The weather app updated behind the scenes before they got to it).

My live tile is broken as well. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I set a location and pinned the tile from within the app (at the top). Nothing. Just a sun icon.

It doesn't display Washington DC or anything. It doesn't reset after any amount of time. It's just permanently a sun icon.

You can get the Live Tile to work again by either signing out and back in, or restarting the PC. It will continue to work until the next time you open the Weather app.

A permanent fix will have to come from Microsoft in the form of an updated Weather app, as it was their latest update that broke it.

Ok, so pinning the app itself works for this. It shows Washington, DC only.

Pinning the city from inside the app does not work. The tile will just show the sun tile no matter what, even after reboots.

I encountered this issue and found the workarounds 'worked' such as signing out and back in, however a clean install of 1809 (latest version) that then goes on to update the weather app before you get around to setting your own location totally breaks the live tile and it remains permanently stuck on London (for me UK based).

The app has just been updated to version 4.28.10351.0 and this bug has been fixed:

    Before the update, v4.28.3242.0.

After the update, v4.28.10351.0, when opening the app, the tile stops working for about a second or less and then starts working again.

I must clarify that I received this update in the Skip Ahead ring (build 18329.1), I haven't received it yet on my device with the October Update (build 17763.292), so apparently Microsoft is testing the fix with the insiders first (as it should be).

Thanks for the heads-up, I look forward to seeing this being released to the public builds.
