Old version of CCleaner no longer working in build 17763.168

I have been using an older version of CCleaner ……. v 5.25.5902

After updating Win 10 ver 1809 to build 17763.168, I was told that the old version of CClener will no longer work and I have to update to current version.

Is that any danger if I do the CCleaner update ?

    I'm on 5.44.6575.

That is NOT the most recent version.

As of a couple of months ago, the more recent versions were having some issues and the version I now use does NOT have any issues, so I don't want to use a newer one for the foreseeable future.

I can't recall the nature of the issues, but it was significant.

You should look at the CCleaner forum on their site for any current info.

I am gradually becoming less attracted to CCleaner and may give it up entirely.

I can confirm that my 5.44.6575 runs without any complaints on 17763.168.

Recent issues have included privacy concerns (again) after this...

The last "clean" version of CCleaner is 5.40. The offending cookie responsible for the ads was introduced in version 5.41.

    Thank you to both.
I found ver 5.44.6575 from Neowin via google search.
    Installed and ran it.

P.S. It tried to install Avast. Good thing I was paying attention to what was on the screen.

I found the portable edition of 5.40.6411 by browsing the archives copies of Piriform's 'builds' page for Feb. 2018 at archive.org

FYI 5.40 runs without complaint in 17763.168 too.

Well, I was busy downloading 5.40 and didn't see yours until after I had posted. But then I did add info on how to find it today, so it wasn't an entirely wasted effort

After the Black Friday Fly out adds I dumped 5.47. I found 5.38 in the archives, downloaded and it works fine. I also run Disk Clean and Storage to clean up the trash. And Yes! beware of the Avast installer that runs piggy back with the downloader.
