Unable to Pin Certain Programs to Start Menu

I am unable to pin certain programs to the start menu. Please see the video below. I downloaded and installed a utility called FileTypesMan. When I attempt to pin it to the start menu, and then perform a search for it, it does not show up in the search results. Please advise. TIA.

Good idea, but still doesn't work. I moved the filetypesman-x64 folder into C:\Program Files (x86)

I tried to pin FileTypesMan.exe to the start menu, but it still doesn't show up when I search. Thoughts?

Hi again, Have you tried from Program Files, Send to Desktop (Create Shortcut), and then Pin to Start.

Well, first thought is that it takes a little while for the search index to get updated.

But the main thought is that I wouldn't pin it to Start, I would add it to Start's 'All Apps' list. Anything you add to the All Apps list will appear in a search. If you also want it pinned to Start, do that from the All Apps list.

First I would right-click on the .exe and select 'Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)'. Then I would copy or move the shortcut to my personal Start menu (Option One) or the All Users Start menu (Option Three) in this tutorial.

    Hi there

    easy way

    1) right context the program from the menu
    2) from the context menu choose open file location. This will now launch a window in file explorer with the program name.
    3) right context against the program name

now it should have an option send to desktop(create short cut) and pin to taskbar. If the pin to taskbar is missing send it to the desktop where you'll see an icon and then you can drag it to the taskbar.

The open file location should be where I've indicated in my screenshot - in English probably 3rd entry.

Thanks for your replies guys. I am now able to file the FileTypesMan when I do a search in the Start Menu, however, the app is not displayed in the Start Menu alphabetical list. Why is that?

Where is the shortcut that appears in the search results actually located? Right-click on it in the search results and select 'Open file location' to find out.

To appear in the Start menu's All Apps list it should be in one of two places, the 'All users' Start menu or your user's own Start menu.
