Windows 10 keeps hijacking my "Open with" choice for Office documents
Several months ago I had posted How do I associate Office 2000 as default to open Office documents Solved - Windows 10 Forums about my travails trying to make my tried/true/trusted/ancient copy of Office 2000 the default app to open files. Yes, I admit that there are people who weren't born when I got that software, who have now graduated high school!
FileTypesMan - Alternative to 'File Types' manager of Windows from Nirsoft appeared to solve my problems. You can edit any file type and select the default app to open that file type.
But I'm noticing that at times - haven't exactly pinned down when; maybe it's the big monthly Windows updates - my "open with" preferences will have been reset, to the current-rev version of Microsoft Office. Then I have to go manually reset all the preferences. This is usually when I'm on a deadline, and had a two-minute edit to do to a document, and then I have to (again) tell my system for the umpteenth time to use Office 2000.
I don't want to remove the current Office from my machine, which would probably solve the problem.
How can I override Windows reverting the "open with" back to current Office, and respecting my own user preferences?
