I tried a different PC using Edge and the latest definition file as shown below and Defender still finds the same potential virus. Is this a UK location dependent issue?

Ask Keith @kado897 to give it a whack and see what he gets.

If I try downloading it first Chrome complains then when I allow it Defender gobbles it up as a severe threat. I can run and scan the file already on my machine and Defender doesn't see any problem so maybe the version on GitHub is infected.

If I use Chrome or Edge, I get exactly what Keith does. FF, ok. I updated mine this morning using the "About" and DL link in the app itself. No problems.

Also, I just tried Major Geeks. Fails using Chrome/Edge as Trojan, FF ok.

    So I don't know what's what!

And Virus Total is still showing MS Defender as only one unhappy.

It's only the latest version it complains about. I can download v0.11.18 and neither Chrome nor Defender shows any interest.

It seems to be a false positive from WD latest definition update. Need confirmation.

I turned off Defenders PUP blocker weeks ago.
It's too aggressive and you once you have allowed an app through, you still need to do it for every damn update.
It doesn't whitelist for all versions of an app.

Once I allowed it seems ok now. May be worth trying the version on Major Geeks.

I wonder why Defender didn't block the file at the point of download using FF like and Chrome and Edge instead of finding a potential virus at the point of running the .exe file? I've given up fiddling with RAPR for now since the previous version works for me.

I did all that, and it installed and ran fine.

Still.... I'm gonna Revo it out and go back to .18.

    Thanks anyway.
