Win 10 Photo viewer not working

I don't know what happened but for the past week or so the Win 10 Photo Viewer App has quit working. I've done a search on this and it seems like others are having the same problem. I've tried resetting the app, no luck, tried the troubleshooter, no luck, I even uninstalled the app with the use of this line using the Powers Shell "get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage". I then reinstalled through the Windows Store but that didn't work either. It's a pain when you have to keep using OPEN WITH. Does anybody have any other ideas? It never fails, if something works somebody will either break it or delete it cause it's something everybody uses and likes.

Hi, could you clarify in what way the Photos app has stopped working? (I assume you mean 'Photos').

Do you perhaps mean it's not your default for opening image files- double clicking on them doesn't open them?

From your reference to Open With, are you finding you have to rt click an image file, open with, and select Photos to view it?

And with that in mind, are you having difficulty in assigning a default program? That is a known bug in 1803, related to what I think was the last CU. MS reportedly hope to fix that this month.

dalchina: Ever since the Photo viewer was part of Win 10, I've used it as my default to open all pics, much easier than keep opening my PSP. At the present time, looking through "Apps & Features", it's not even listed, It does show the following "Paint 3D, PicToPainting and PhotoMirage". According to the Windows App Store, it shows that the Photo viewer is installed, if it's installed where is it? It should be in the Apps & Features, shouldn't it?
If you go to "Default Apps" it shows "Photo viewer">Photos. If I select Photo viewer>Photos, another box appears and state "Choose an app", which I intern select "Photos", If the "Photo app" is there why isn't in "Apps & Features? Strange.
Anyway, If you click on a pic, on the taskbar, there's an app open and it say's "Photos" but if you hover your mouse over the image, a faint box appears on the screen, as if it wants to show you're pic is but nothing is there except for a faint box outline and if you double click on the app nothing happens. I've attached a screenshot to show what it looks like. This is really weird.

    Hello xpac,

"Photos" would be listed as "Microsoft Photos" in Apps & features.

It looks like Photos is running for you, but possibly off-screen somehow.

If this is the case, then check using the tutorial below to see if you may be able to move the opened Photos window back on-screen.

Brink: That fixed it, thank you. I had no idea it was off-screen. Now I know what to look for if it happens again.
