!! Date countdown desktop widgets like android ?? !!

    HI,

Love this site as my knowledge with computers is basically nil, though I am learning!

I have looked through the store for countdown date apps that are pinned to the desktop.

After downloading a few now (days / event timer etc) I'm starting to think that Win 10 doesn't work like a chromebook or an android phone. Am I right in thinking that there are no such things as widgets in Win 10?

If that is so then I guess I will have to use a sticky note with the date on it. Whilst this would work I don't think it's as cool as an actual countdown clock that automatically changes as the days pass. I used one of these on my C302CA but had to switch for uni reasons.

Is there such as a thing as widgets, specifically a countdown widget?

If not, has anyone figure a way around it, coded it somehow?

Thanks for your time in advance, ste

You can go download the 8GadgetPack and then search for a Countdown Clock. This is a 100% legit software with no ads, spyware, viruses, etc. . I'm using it as we speak on both of my computers.

Here's the gadget you are looking for:

Wow, I'm not gonna go with the first because the countdown to date is exactly what I'm after. A visual reminder of my uni essay and exam dates every time i open my laptop. Keeps me on top of things. Thanks so much, it's a pretty widget too, all the best bud.

    Follow up question?

    Hi.

When I go to install the countdown clock I can download it no problem.

It comes down as a Gadget file type, when I click on it i am asked how do you want to open this file.

It only offers the microsoft store as an option and even when I click this it does nothing.

    Can you help. cheers, ste.

You have to download the GadgetPack software here: https://8gadgetpack.net/ in order to get it to run correctly.

Aha, just heading it to uni. So you have to download the 8 gadget pack first, you can't just install the little countdown date timer on its own. Will try this when i get back, thanks so much.

Yep, you have to download the gadgetpack first. the extension to that countdown is .gadget, which means nothing can open that file except the gadgetpack software. Just like the ".exe" extensions can't be opened on Macs

    !! Scaling factor !!

    hi.

    the widgets work pretty well.

They are not the right size for dpi?

Looked on the Q and A but they guy says you need to know how to use Javascript.

I think that is the end of the road there for me. Might just have to use sticky notes.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I hope microsoft start to do their own widgets (if these aren't examples), I feel they would be on to a winner there.

    Cheers again, ste.
