I could use a Notebook like that one next summer for a project with our local animal shelter. I'll be setting up 2 running Linux mainly because they'll have limited use [need only Internet] and want an LTS/Long Term Support type OS so we are not surprised with constant updates that catch volunteers unaware when needing to use them. And of course, free is always a plus.

Shouldn't be, using the clean all command and not just the clean command. Works to get rid of some infections that survive a format and reinstall, so it's pretty solid. Then again, a hammer works well and is the only really sure method.

"clean all" will write 0 to all sectors so it won't be recoverable.

Though honestly if I were concerned about someone recovering my data then I'd just destroy the drive. I don't know if someone would really want an 80GB drive anyway.

Okay I will do that also!

I go with Hammer then Fire and Hammer Again for my drives. Considering you can get a Budget 120gb SSD for 22 to 25 Bucks it'd seem like a better option, especially if that's an older drive with a lot of use.
