    Volumouse
I have not figured out how to get volumouse to work as a screen dimmer.
Cannot find a man page either.

    Other options?
This is the only one that seems viable, but it looks like another major effort to get it going.

There is support for multi monitors, shortcut link icon command line arguments and hot keys.

Okay. I sort of get it.
Once I boot into this what am I to look for? What is a normal screen. Just like I always see?

    Is this what you want?

Hi, - note- I have no idea if these tools help in a multi-monitor configuration.

Volume2 is easy, presumably you've tried this.

    Volumouse:

    a. select Screen brightness from drop down (red)
    b. select a key (orange)
    c. Close the dialogue

    d. place the mouse somewhere on the screen
    e. press and hold the button (above)
    f. scroll

You should see (if it works in your config - there's a note in the limited help on this) a visual slider indication showing % brightness. The slider moves up and down as you scroll.

This is an older prog so I guess it's possible it won't work in some situations.

    Volumouse Setup Trial

Thanks for pointing this out. I missed the details.

Not having much luck with it though. Not seeing a slider. Am I still missing something? I will try to write the email address in the help page and see if they respond.

I keep my W10 at 175% magnification. Do you think that has anything to do with this?

Any more thought on getting Pango going?

I have not tried the Windows high contrast mode in a couple of years. Last I tried it there was a problem with the links fading to illegible states. That could help cut the brightness if the links issue has been resolved.

    Any thoughts on this?

Thanks again for your help and guidance.

According your settings, press and keep pressing the ALT key while scrolling. On mine, the slider appears as soon as I start scrolling. I suppose it may be possible something about your settings places it off screen.

Volume2: I note you failed to find this. Not difficult: here are some sites to help you.

    Download Portable Volume2 1.1.5.404 / 1.1.6.411 Beta
Note the link to the installable version on the left.

Here's how to find such things - search tips for you:
    I searched for
    volume2 site:softpedia.com
    another:
    volume2 site:tucows.com

softpedia is a good download site that hosts many progs.

Searching with more specific words helps too:
    volume2 volume control freeware
    - my google list gives softpedia and tucows on the first page.

Again thanks for you help and guidance.

I did have a concern about the version, but could not identify one from the download file. But in my dismay I forgot to check the help file ID. Doh!

    Volumouse v2.03

    Web site: http://www.nirsoft.net

This is all so foreign to me I become confused and vexed rather easily.

Also, another excuse: the format of the setup screen is a bit difficult for me to read. I will have another go at this tomorrow night with the newer version.

    Thanks again.

    Return of PangoBrght

I have not had a chance to dig into Volmouse yet, but it remains in the top part of the list.

The flexibility of it looks far superior to Pango
    FYI.
Pango has returned. It must have needed a cold boot earlier?
