    Reversing changes made with FileTypesMan

I downloaded a program called FileTypesMan from NirSoft. https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/file_types_manager.html
I used the program to change the .jpg extension's type name from jpegfile to giffile, causing Windows to treat .jpg files like .gif files. This seems to work fine, but I would like to know how to undo the changes.

Can anyone help me understand this? Thank you.

Note: with any tool that allows detailed access effectively to registry locations there is a risk of creating undesired outcomes.

Also note there's System Restore- if restoring actually works, which it doesn't, necessarily.

Then there are plenty of tools for backing up the registry - and you can export individual keys using the registry editor.

    Always back up appropriately first.

We constantly recommend disk imaging be used routinely- e.g. Macrium Reflect (free). This helps even if your disk fails and you need to replace it.

Thanks. I'll keep this in mind if I need it again. For now, Windows automatically changed it back. Usually, this would be frustrating, but it saved me in this case.
