    Compiling GIMP Plug-Ins

Does anyone know of a tutorial for compiling plug-ins for GIMP? This one https://developer.gimp.org/ doesn't even have enough information to compile its own "Hello-World" plug-in.

What more are you looking for? Compiling is easy. It is debugging that creates the headaches. https://developer.gimp.org/writing-a...n/1/index.html Also, what computer languages do you have a background in?

Hey Greg I'm pretty sure @Hopachi (Horace) does, it might take a while until he sees the mention, as I haven't seen him in the forums lately.

Thx, but the specific problem I have is that gimptool can't find pkg-config. I found pkg-config-0.29.2.tar, but I don't know whether that's the right file or where to put it.

Wait for someone more knowledgeable to give you further instructions. In the mean time, note, I don't know whether the .tar (compressed) file contains the source code for Windows or LInux but you could try extracting the .tar with 7-zip or some other de-compressor and see if there are any readme files inside.

Thx. I should have thought of that, since I used 7-Zip to get the tar file from the gz file.

The tar's are meant for Linux systems.

    Sorry about the delay.
Unfortunately I don't compile plugins. Tried that long ago, was pretty difficult, but I didn't know much. Was also some outdated documentation on the Windows side.
Now I just mess around with scripts. I use and tweak around with either the latest official GIMP release or one of Partha's. You can find more technical links there.
