Video files that don't open with any type of player

Hi. Some vids hosted on zippyshare and similar other sites took my interest so I downloaded them. The files are the size they were stated to be and have an mp4 extension but they don't play with any of my players nor load with any editor/converter program. The mediainfo app gives no info other than the file size.

One file is 659Mb so it surely must contain something. How can I find out what? Thank you.

Hi Samuria and thanks for that. I mentioned mediainfo in my first post. KC is new to me so I downloaded it but it doesn't 'see' the rogue file so is of no use here.

GSpot says 'File Type: unknown' and 'Mime Type: unknown' so I'm thinking the vids have come from some kind of scam site. It's just that the files are fairly big, I'd love to know what's THERE...

Then it is not a media file. It is either corrupted, has a wrong extension or it might be packed (try 7-zip).

Hi TairikuOkami - you posted just as I edited. I've tried all the extensions I can think of to no avail. Next step is to use my Delete key.
