Danutak First I would create a full disk image. Then follow Brinks tutorial and you will be fine.

First you have to check you Windows version. Click on Start and type winver (hit Enter). Smaller window like that below will appear.

Post your picture here, or type your version number.
You can download fresh copy of Windows from Microsoft (save as ISO file) and do in-place repair from it. Your copy on disc is probably too old.

Original one is not necessary the latest, the build you have. I would download new ISO from MS, mount it (right click - mount image) and let run the setup.

including how to download ISO (chapter 4)
You could also run command (elevated):

    sfc /scannow

to check if there are any errors. Windows will try to fix them (guess it won't do all)

Sometime with sfc /scannow the first run may fix some but not all problems, as it says in this tutorial...

If SFC could not fix something, then run the command again to see if it may be able to the next time. Sometimes it may take running the sfc /scannow command up to 3 times with Fast Startup turned off and restarting the computer after each time to completely fix everything that it's able to.

If not, then run the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command to repair any component store corruption, restart the PC afterwards, and try the sfc /scannow command again.

...but it goes on to say if both sfc and dism can't fix the problems, then try the....

The in-place repair install can fix things that sfc/dism can't touch. It is always worth trying before giving up and doing a clean install because while it completely reinstalls Windows it will leave all your files and installed aps in place.
