What is the best program to lock (freeze) all the icons on my desktop?

    Hi all -

This is especially infuriating after updating/changing graphics drivers.
Does anyone know of a nice, small program that can lock the desktop in place so nothing gets scrambled?

    TIA! :)

There are a ton of threads, so I had to evaluate them and finally found the one that I like.

It is ReIcon by Sordum Software -

    Code:
    https://www.sordum.org/8366/reicon-v1-9-restore-desktop-icon-layouts/
Does exactly what I want it to do. The developer keeps it updated and most of all, it's free.

    I recommend it to all.

The problem with this software is that it only restores desktop icons. I'm looking for a way to LOCK them into place. I came across DeskLock but it it is so easily disabled I'm not sure it would work for my situation.

DesktopOK is simple and works fine. It stores a simple desktopok.ini file in folder C:\Users\yourmame\AppData\Roaming\DesktopOK to record your icon positions by user account

For your use, DesktopOK is spot on!

Thanks for the reply. I tried it out but it doesn't lock the icons into place like I'm looking for. It remembers where they are and if they get moved you can to restore them back to that position.

If I'm going to do that I may as well right-click > AutoArrange.

I'm looking for something that LOCKS the icons into place and isn't easily disabled.

    This

    and this
Fix: Desktop Icons Not Getting Saved - Appuals.com

may point to why some users experience this problem, and others don't.

You might like to try Stardock's Fences program which is quite often mentioned in this context.

No - Auto Arrange doesn't put the icons where you choose but DesktopOK puts them in the position you saved
