The error message is inconsistent and happens sporadically, most often with cutting/copying and pasting url files using keyboard shortcuts. I tried de-activating OneDrive and still got the error message. I should also mention that I have Actual Window Manager installed but the same error pops up when this latter program is disabled as well. The error message is due to something in QtTabBar....because an error log is constantly generated and appended. Is there anything in the log (attached to the original post) that stands out as a culprit?

Also, attempts to contact Quizzo have failed for quite some time. His webpage has not been updated in 2 years. Are there any other support areas that might get his attention?

    Thanks!

Doesn't seem to happen for me-- tried it with a URL shortcut, generated a dialogue similar to yours.. no problem, cutting/pasting copying between Desktop and Documents - both in file explorer windows.

I note you have Onedrive active (I don't).

FWIW I also use Actual Window Manager.

The log file doesn't tell me anything I can make useful sense of.

It may be that you have different options set in Qttabbar for example... many possible differences...
No instance of that log file on my PC..

Has anyone ever seen the error message in attached picture? When cutting/copying and pasting internet shortcuts/*.url files using ctrl+x/ctrl+c --> ctrl+v, an interrupted actions dialog box sometimes appears with options to replace, skip or compare files, despite moving/copying only one file. It mainly occurs with internet shortcuts and sometimes causes the system to crash. I have identified the culprit being QtTabBar and an associated error log has been attached.

Any idea of what settings to change to avoid this really annoying error message that appears quite frequently?

    Thanks!

I'm curious. The only time I see that dialog box is when I have 2 files with the same name. It usually happens with Sandboxie, which I use. Have you clicked on "Compare info for both files"? If so, does it show identical files?

Indeed- as Phrab indicates.. The screenshot following that in your first post is not an 'error' message - nor anything to do with Qttabbar.

Are you actually seeing ANY error message? Or are you saying that Qttabbar generates a log file when you see that dialogue?

I had no idea there was a bug tracking service. It seems to be updated frequently. I just posted the issue on that site.

I know that Quizzo takes very long breaks of inactivity but I wonder, now that Win11 has native tabs, if he will abandon his project.

    Thanks!

I wondered the same thing myself. The dialog box pops up when there are no internet shortcuts files with the same name. It can take a dozen or more times to purposely recreate this error message. I did compare info for both files when I copy a url file from a source to an empty test directory, i.e., there are no duplicate file names present in the target directory. If I compare info for both files, the resulting dialog box shows URL files present in both directories, but the source has a name, and the destination has no name. It looks like the copy/cut and paste operation occurs partially and interrupted for some reason. If I cut/copy and past one or more URL files using keyboard shortcuts into a new location, the dialog box shows up sporadically and it seems to try to repeat the file operation numerous times over a period of less than a second, so very fast. Sometimes I stop the operation and the file copies/moves successfully, but other times explorer hangs and I have to restart. I am not sure what triggers. All I know is that a QtTabBar exception log file is created on the desktop.

    Thanks

I replied to Phrab's message above. The error message I see is the interrupted copy/cut + paste dialog box that occurs multiple times, because I know there is not a duplicate file copied in the destination directory and the file operation seems to repeat itself until I stop or Explorer crashes. In the case that Explorer crashes, the log file is generated automatically on the desktop so the events are somehow connected.

Do you know how I might access Windows error logs in case that helps?

    Something you could try:

    Export Qttabbar settings.
    Set all to default.
See if you can reproduce the problem.

Resetting to default settings seems to have solved the issue, at least for now, since I cannot reproduce creating the error upon repeated copy/cut and pasting of .url or .exe files using keyboard shortcuts. Since there are so many options to change, it is difficult to pinpoint a cause.

Before resetting to the default, I did notice a possibly related anomaly. In a directory with several files, after moving some (but not all) of the files using CTRL+X and CTRL+V into another location, the remaining files in the first directory would be automatically selected (the icons would be partially transparent) as if ready to perform another file operation. I am pretty sure this was due to a setting in QtTabBar but I have no idea. Have you ever seen it before?

I would only expect the files you're copying to be selected... and none after cut and paste...

Good you've found a way forward. Clearly you could e.g. restore the original settings, then on each page of the options in turn, set that page to default, then check if the problem exists. That was you can identify the problem to 1 (or more) page(s) of settings.

    Hey there,

Since some updates of Win11 something strange happens with the Top Bar of the Explorer. It loads white like if the Dark mode of Windows gets ignored. One can fix it with going to Windows Color setting and choose one color or toggle transparency. But unfortunately on every Explorer open it happens again. Do you guys happen to know, what is happening here? I'm using QTTabBar ver 2048 the latest beta.
