I have QtTabBar set up so that I can open 4 tabs in a group (typed too fast before edit...thanks @steve108). From time to time, when I click on a tab to open it, I get this error message:
    Attachment 309592
This time the tab was: C:\Users\Phil\Documents\Current Projects. It doesn't happen every time, but it does happen often enough to be irritating. I don't have any illegal characters, as far as I know. If I did, I would think Windows wouldn't let me name a folder/file with illegal characters.

Any ideas of why this happens...& only when several tabs are open?

    Thanks in advance.
Not sure if this has a bearing on the issue but, try un-checking 'Rename ambiguous tabs automatically'

Thank you. I did have it checked. I'll give it a try & should see if there's a change within the next few days.

Thank you again. Unchecking that option seems to have worked. Haven't had the problem in the last 3 days. QTTabBar Updates-image.png

Do you recall if you had oped multiple folders with the same name:
    Options - QTTabBar Manual
    "Rename ambiguous tab automatically
Append ancestor folder name to title text in order to identify, when tabs with the same name exist."

I just tried and it worked fine with the checkbox checked.

I recall. I did not have multiple folders with the same name in a given File Explorer window. However, I have 2 File Explorer windows open. They have identical folder names, but are on different computers, so their paths are different. e.g. One will be C:\Users\Phil\Documents\Current Projects & the other \\NetworkName\Data\Current Projects.

The error message only came up infrequently, so it's difficult to see what causes it. The "Append ancestor folder name to title text in order to identify, when tabs with the same name exist" that is shown in the help file for options, doesn't exist in the actual options dialog box...at least not in my version.

Maybe the different PCs was a factor then.

"Append ancestor folder name to title text in order to identify, when tabs with the same name exist" just describes the option you unchecked

    Tip:
I always avoided using Extra Views and Command Bars as it became to cluttered, but,
if you have a 4K monitor, at the proper resolution, there's tons of legible room!

New version of QtTabBar out just in time for Christmas!
    QTTabBar - QuizoApps v1043 for 64bit environments (2020-12-20)
    ChangeLog
    (Changes in 1043)

    - Navigation pane (folder tree) available in extra folder views.
    - Built-in folder analyzer tool and file attribute editor.

    (Fixed in 1043)
    - Many bugs.

On the next major update, we have scheduled to change the framework requirement to version 4.8 or later.

Thanks for the info. I installed it & it seems ok. The only thing that hasn't been fixed (that I'm aware of) is that all the icons of recent files are all white.
