Got it. Exiting the window and re-launching does fix the label on the tab, albeit temporarily. I think this is a bug in the software that has not been fixed, right?

What about the other issue when all existing tabs are closed when opening control panel, any idea how to deal with that problem?

Also, do you (or anyone else) know of a way to report bugs to the owner of QtTabBar? I have tried email through his site but he doesn't seem to respond.

    Thanks!

I don't agree that is totally true because I can see a bug reported there and it is not so long ago:

If you look on the sourceforge page under files, that fork of QtTabBar has not been updated in many years.

I may have found a workaround for the mysterious Control Panel closing other tabs issue...

Create a group, or add to your favorite group, Control Panel but make sure it's the first tab!

... and, lock the group if you wish...
    (the locks look hideous though!)

Running QtTabBar v1042 on Win10 x64 20H2. There seems to be a bug/issue with the Panel. When an existing File Explorer window is open with several tabs, launching Control Panel causes all existing tabs to be lost with the Control Panel opening in a new windows. And the text in the control pane tab is cut off (see attachment). Anyone know how to fix this issue? Thanks!
    ....
How do you launch Control Panel? If you right-click the Start button and launch from there, do the same two issues occur?

I am able to launch control panel in many ways. If I have a file explorer window with several tabs open, and open control panel using a shortcut on the desktop or start menu or opening the start menu and searching for "control panel" and executing, the existing tabs disappear and a new control panel window opens. However, I can also run control panel through a shortcut on the desktop right click menu from @Brink tutorial. In this case, a separate, new window with control panel opens but the existing window with multiple tabs remains open.

Conversely, if I have no windows/tabs open, open control panel through the shortcut on the desktop or start menu, or from start menu search, or from the desktop background right click, and then open a new window/tab, the new window/tab opens in a separate window from the control panel window previously opened.

The same effect described above is observed whether control panel is opened directly in icons or category view.

    Does this info help?

    Thanks!

    Hi, 1903, latest Qttabbar.

If I have some tabs open in file explorer, and then launch control panel
    - from within that instance of file explorer
    QTTabBar Updates-.png
    I see
    QTTabBar Updates-a1.png

    - by other means opens a second window

    - open Control Panel in New Tab (e.g. from rt clicking Control Panel in Open Shell) gives

dude I already pointed this issue while back... and if you want to launch Proprity from My PC, the same issue if happening!!

We discussed about it will back, and it is not proper to QTTabBar, but it is due to the way Windows is builded... Maybe I am wrong...
Anyway solution I got for you, is when you want to access to those 2 is to open an additional tab My PC, then drag it to another Windows alone, and then open for example Control Panel...

I know, kind of a long shot... but thats what we got for now...
It is either that long way, or reopen all the tabs closed when Control Panel is being opened...
