I think I like QT (cutie )icon in the taskbar, because it's something new for me to try for now since I just experienced it today for the first time.

And thanks for Rexplorer tip. I'll have to look into it, but I usually just use the Task Manager to restart Explorer when rarely needed.

So lets focus on the issues you want to resolve. Maybe restating them would be good after all these posts just to clarify
The beauty with Rexplorer, it kind of save the current windows opened, restart the Explorer and reopen the windows for you , so you dot need to manaually reopen all the windows. I have to say that sometime I found myself with a lot of windows open, and QTTabBar really help for that.
You right , I am open to any suggestion to resolve the originals issue.
Can you try the second initial issue on your side?? when a windows is opened, with a few Tab in it, and you decide to open Control Manager, it close the said window right?? or you may try with This PC, with few Tab opened, and check proprieties of "This PC". you will understand more what I mean I guess...

    1. I looked throughout their help online, but couldn't find any setting that put windows in the notification area (task tray) when you CLOSE them...only if you minimize them. I'm using version 1042. What version are you using?

    2. With regard to opening the same tabs, you do know that you can use groups, right? Just click the dropdown arrow from the yellow star:
    QTTabBar Updates-image.png
Of course, this is useful is you frequently open the same group of tabs. If the folders are random, it doesn't help much.

If I have a QT Window open with several tabs open, then I click on the Control Panel icon in QT Toolbar or the This PC icon in QT Toolbar, the Control Panel or This PC tab opens to the right of the last open tab (the other tabs are still there), so no window closed in my case - if I followed what you're asking me to try - just a new tab opened in the QT Window where I initiated the action to open the Control Panel or This PC.

Okay, now I'm seeing some strange inconsistent behavior where sometimes the existing open QTTabBar window with other tabs open is closing and the Control Panel opens in a new QT Window by itself like you're probably describing. On this PC I'm using QT 1040.

Same issue after updating to QT 1042.

I've been trying to figure this same issue out for some time now...,

I think it has something to do with Control Panel being a bunch of half crippled applets, and not so much a part of the Explorer shell, due to the change overs to Settings!

I found that, if you add Control Panel to a Group and put it at the front of the line, (tab # 1), it doesn't do the re-opening thing...

I am using 1040 and tried also with 1042, the same behavior is happening.
you are kind of mixing minimizing and closing.
For minimizing, when you want it to be minimized to natification aera (task Tray) there is an option that need to be activated. >>>>> QTTabBar Options - Window - General tab - Send window to Task Tray on minimized (2nd option)
I think we gona agree on that part.
But what I am discribing is not related to MINIMIZING a window! it is related to CLOSE!
When I close a windows it goes to Notif Task Tray:
    QTTabBar Updates-annotation-2020-10-04-121918.png
and when you right click on that folder icon, you get the option to choose from different Tab (or something like that) I did not catch yet how a folder is added to this list...
    QTTabBar Updates-annotation-2020-10-04-121855.png
I experienced a bit, and I found out that if you disable Historique frm QTTabBar settings, this folder icon is no more created at the Notif Task Tray, so it work with Hstorique feature, maybe to can give you avaibility to re-open a recent closed window/folder, at least something like that...

Thx for this STAR tip, actually did not know about that, I am more used to Quick Access of Windows:
    QTTabBar Updates-annotation-2020-10-04-122939.png
But I added the Star to my TabBar, and will adopt it. I just need to find out how to open multiple folder at same time. Or not what you discribed maybe. Any already usefull, instead to open a folder and go and go inside it to find some file. Cause I have to say I am those guy that got folders in folders
So going to be usefull, Thx
I experience and when I decide to Open "Control Panel" from those Folder group (the Star icon), it is not closing the window with my Tab opened, but it just add itself after my opened Tabs, so kind of a workaround for the Window closing issue when opening Control Panel.

exactly!! It is not related to QTTabBar version, either 1040 or 1042. It is because I always open Control Panel from Star Menu
    QTTabBar Updates-annotation-2020-10-04-124409.png
or from Right Click on WINDOWS Start Icon:
    QTTabBar Updates-annotation-2020-10-04-124431.png

So my work around has always been when I have a window with a lot of opened Tab that I dont want to lose ( them to be closed), I always open a new Explorer Window and from it, I open Control Panel or Proprities of This PC.... for the Window with my bunch of Tabs to dont be affected...

Thx, like I said previously I never used roup feature of QTTabBar, but definatly going to adopt it. I see it got powerless features!
If you dont mind asking, how did you manage to add Soft shortcuts to QTTabBar, like I saw on your screen pic Sumatra and other.... because I always used Start Menu f Windows and Tiles, but adding a soft to QTTabBar is definatly great also.
I tried right click on Task Bar and but it doesnt respond to anything.

There are several ways to add groups. An easy way is to first open all the tabs you want & put them in the order that you want. Then use the Star's dropdown arrow & choose the 2nd option, "Create a group from all tabs" & give the group a name. If you then click on "Manage groups..." (the 4th item in the dropdown), it will open up QTTabBar's options>Groups. You can then go to the options tab & choose to have only those tabs open in that window, if you want.

One of the best features of QTTabBar is the 'Desktop Tool',
giving you access to all your QT assets by middle click on the Desktop; plus, live mouse hover previews of all sorts of media and much more...

About media previous, is only working for media located in folders, sadly it is not working for media on Desktop....
But I dont know about this middle click on the Desktop. I tried it, and nothing is happening. Can you please supply some additinal info about it?
