Sumatra's also handy in that it provides an ifilter for Windows search.

You have to save a .docx thumbnail to see a preview...

Once you check mark the box, it will always save a thumbnail.

I use it to add up my year end total, at a glance, without having to open each document...

Yes. If you open a .docx document, press F12 (which is SaveAs), you'll get an option to Save Thumbnail. It will then save future .docx with a thumbnail. But you'd have to do this for each old .docx file. Maybe a Word expert could create a macro to do it.

Thanks, Edwin. While this works for .docx files, it dosen't work for old .doc files (no surprise). There is a way with Word 2003 to save a preview picture (which is what they called it), but it works with templates, not individual .doc files. I seem to recall that there was a way, but can't seem to find it now.

Thanks- unfortunately I don't have Word, and neither Atlantis Word Processor nor Libre Office Writer have such an option as far as I can see.

QTTabBar version 1038 still looks best with 'Old/New Explorer', (the Ribbon is too messy)

Quite anxious to see the new, upcoming version!
