1803 upgrade removed photo app from start page

I recently purchased a HP refurbished laptop. I was told it was about a year old.
After activation, the 1803 creators upgrade was downloaded and installed.
I noticed that the Windows default photo app disappeared from the start screen. It's not listed in settings-apps-apps& and features. It is in settings-default apps but reset doesn't do anything.
I can launch the app by going to file explorer and double click a photo. The app comes up and I can navigate as before.
But, again, it is nowhere on the start screen or in the alphabetical list.
Whas up with dat?

For simplicity, I tried option three and went to the store and it said this app is installed. I did that before with the same result.
I haven't tried option one or two yet.
Should I download that driver link that comes up before I log in?
Like I said, the app is there, it just doesn't show up anywhere.

I can't uninstall the app because it does not appear on start screen tiles or list. going to settings>default apps doesn't do anything either.
I tried command prompt and entered this:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *Photos*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"
I got an error message something like "cannot convert" etc.
I also tried to upload a screen shot of that driver link and something went wrong. text showed up and then deleted my message, but here's what it said: Windows 10 Repair Tool© - (Highly Recommended)

In a Run box, type shell:appsfolder > Enter,

if Photos resides in there, maybe you'd be able to Pin it to Start...
