I would like to thank everybody for their feedback on this issue.
I would also like to give some constructive criticism to *all* forums members.
With the galore of win 10 versions (16.xx 17.xx 18.xx Insiders. slow fast etc.) and th e disheartening mess of control panel + *modern* settings it is important to understand and acknowledge that what works on 16.xx may not work on 18.xx (and that is of course true for all the possible permutations) and to help debug only who works (in this case) with 18.03 can help to debug all the rest ( 16.xx 17.xx 18.09 Insiders) can only create more confusion.
Hope it is clear and that does not sound rude.
There are four threads about this issue on the first page here. Every day there are new posts with the same issue on r/Windows10. Has anyone narrowed this down to a particular build or update? It seems common since the latest CU for 1803, but it might have been around for a while and people are only now noticing it?
Has anybody had the issue with 1803 and found it fixed on 1809, or vice versa?
I have verified that CU KB4462919 W 10 v1803 is the cause in my system, another at post #10.
Don't know if it is some incompatibility with something I use, what is sure is that before CU it worked, after CU nope without changing anything else.
I installed KB4462919 on October 10. Today, I found that the default video player cannot be changed.
I have KB4462919 on 3 systems and just tested my main system and it is fine.
I changed a few with no problem and then did a reset back to the Windows default and then tried changing each one and all is working fine. I will check my other 2 systems later today.
