Removed settings make Control Panel crash?

Hello all,

Over time, Microsoft is migrating more and more settings from the Control Panel to the Settings app of Windows 10 but this led to a few bugs in Control Panel.

For example, when opening Control Panel and searching for the following option:

Clicking this setting would make Control Panel crash in my case.

Does this happen to anyone else?

When I click on that link it goes directly to settings and to the right page.

Thanks for testing. Weird, did you find that setting in Control Panel using the search bar in the top right corner?

The desktop did redraw itself and the taskbar. So something is not quite right.

Did an error or crash appear in the log and/or the Reliability History?

Could anyone else try this out and see if a crash appears in the Reliability History? This is the error that I get (it's an Explorer App Crash):

I think you have found a bug! When I use search in Control Panel for that option I get this:

When I go to the same option from Control Panel / Default Options / Associate a file type .., I get the Settings window from which I can set defaults by file type like this:

I have v17134.285. I wouldn't worry and file a feedback report.

Very weird, I have made a thread at Microsoft's Community forum and an Independent Advisor along with 14 other experts say they don't have this problem at all.

I have made a feedback report but I would really like some further confirmation from others on this to convince the Advisor.

You can change opening file extensions only via properties there. Control panel is a bust.

Ah thanks for the heads up. So the setting can not be found anymore in Control Panel?
