Win10XPE - Build Your Own Rescue Media

Is it possible for the create plugin section to get a little more details? I think the part about getting the changes (registry and file changes is thorough and self-explanatory) but afterwards is left on user trial and error. Unless that's how it is meant to be for the end-users - trial and error. Even then it can get a little more in-depth.

Anyways, I tried creating a plugin. Maybe it doesn't support exe files or maybe it is obsolete. I'll check the thread after the post.

    http://qttabbar.wdfiles.com/local--f...abBar_1043.zip
This is the application (it's archived, the exe file is within the zip)

If I gather it right, I can choose an exe file for x86/x64 architecture both and then that's it, create the new application. If so, then that's the error that popped up. I also tried to see whether the exe was a 7zip self-extracting archive or anything similar but no. And the plugin installed it as it was just extracted. Hmm, must be doing something wrong here 😅

The zip contains the installer - The Installer appears to be MSI - thus I usually will install while in PE - then compress the Program Folder.. I will also capture the Registry Before & After the Installation... There are a lot of variables when creating an Application... You have to monitor the file changes and the registry - and find any missing Required System Files... What you are doing when you create an Application is duplicating the Installation - without using the installer...

    There is an older version

Alrighto, that's what I was confused about. The description in the launcher said it can work with exe files too (7z - Zip - Rar - Exe), I am guessing that's for the SFX archives and not msi installers.

Thanks then, and yes I already know you helped me with the older version. I am trying to get the newer one working here, which it does. Will share the plugin soon over here.

EDIT: Alright, here's the plugin. @Kyhi @APT38 Can you guys check it out for me? Had a good learning time though :)

I guess the old QTTabbar worked out of the box. Anyways, View > Options > Qttabbar
All of the new QTtabbar options are over there. The QTTabBar or QTTabBar - Bottom activates the main tab view. Then it got some other views too in the drop down list.

That "Option' is also most likely written to the registry or an INI file..

The plugin already has the correct registries implemented at the time of installation. What registries I did not write to the plugin was once I activate those options. I guess you're referring to those, if so should I then? I left it for the users to activate it on their own later on once they start up WinPE simply because there were more views/options than just the top bar. I guess I could try to make them available through the interface.

    hi Steve C

Add an exclusion to Windows Security
    Code:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-811816c0-4dfd-af4a-47e4-c301afe13b26
    or
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5924-add-remove-microsoft-defender-antivirus-exclusions-windows-10-a.html
    or use this
    exclusion.reg
    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

;Add an exclusion folder to Windows Security

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Exclusions]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Exclusions\Paths]
    "c:\\Win10XPE\\"=dword:00000000

See Post 3 - Quick Start
    4) You will need to allow a Windows Defender "Exception" for the Win10XPE Folder I would suggest the same exception for any A/V software, in order to allow the program exe's to run without being blocked by your Host System....
