    Good day.

    I have a minor issue with NTFS hardlinks/junctions from within WinXPE.

    When I issue a command for processing the whole C drive (system) it seems it gets stalled forever at hardlinks/junctions (c:\documents and settings for instance).

    Examples:

    When doing a search on whole C drive from Total Commander.
    When issuing a compact /u /a /i /s c:\* command.

    Any ideas on this? It's minor but annoying.

    I remember seeing the same problem doing a dir C:\* from Win 10, WinXPE was not involved. Definite problem with getting hung on circular references of hardlinks and junctions. This was 5+ years ago, maybe more. I've not done it in a long time because of that problem and part of the reason I moved to using Everything.

    I have a small request for WinXPE authors: Could it be possible to include Windows defrag (command-line is fine)? I think it's the best defragger right now.

    defrag.exe is in \Windows\system32 of WinXPE so it should run from a Elevated Command prompt.

    we have had No luck with MS Defrag and limited success with other 3rd party Defrag Apps within a PE Environment..

    Also in regards to hardlinks/junctions - I will pose the question to ChrisR (when he returns from Holiday) as that is more his thing..

    Also with XPE you are working within an Elevated Environment..

    a couple of desktop icons

    been here before in another life but i cannot remember log in details and it seems i used an obsolete email addy so will start again

    brilliant project - have been playing with this and PE_SE for a few weeks - prefer the XPE build as it allows taskbar icons but theres 2 desktop icons i cannot get not to show - there must be a way as the image in post 3 does not have them

    so can anybody help to get rid of the cmd prompt icon and the keyboard choice one that seem to be added to the desktop whatever i do

    apart from that i am sorted

    thanks

    On Build Core Main Interface > select "Edit Pecmd.ini"
    and browse down to _SUB Shortcuts

    Markout ( // ) the > LINK %Desktop% < line for those two Apps

    Code:
    //LINK %Desktop%\Keyboard Layout,%WinDir%\System32\KeyboardLayout.cmd,,%WinDir%\System32\shell32.dll#173
    //LINK %Desktop%\Command Prompt,%WinDir%\System32\cmd.exe
