Hello.
Does anybody know why CompactGUI doesn't work on Win10XPE?
The "App Doesn't work" does not help me - help you...
Can you explain the purpose of the app, how you are integrating the app in PE, what type of Build you are using...
From the download link -
The App is an x86 App -
The App runs from the executable -
The App needs BasicWow Support on x64 build -
The App Depends on Net Framework 4
The App References PowerShell

The app runs (running it from usb stick) but cannot proceed with common operation (it's just a gui for the compact command-line command). It throws out some kind of "debug" error with .NET (a dialog allows you to continue or quit).
I think it doesn't get along too well with latest .NET libraries, because it's not running 100% properly under installed w10 either (although it does work both under safe and regular boot). Maybe I should ask at author's site.
PS - This is the unhandled exception (it seems) dialog:
Hi, thanks very much for your project, it works very well. May I ask how to enable touch keyboard? I tried the "keyboard button" from lower right corner, but it didn't pop up keyboard correctly. Since I am using a tablet with this WIN10XPE , it is necessary to use touch keyboard. Is that possible? Thank you in advance

I did a little testing with the CompactGUI program yesterday - it is very heavy in NetFramwork -
it requires several Assemblies not processed in WinXPE.. I kept adding required Assemblies
BUT. Here is what I figured out...
The GUI does compact the files on Disk, but I can not then transfer the compacted files...
From what I see, you can try to Compact the "Target_**" Folder and then try "Create ISO" > "Create Boot.wim and ISO"
I have not tested that way - and not sure it will work...
Reason being File size is reported as unchanged - reported size on disk is smaller...
But, We need to transfer those files to a different disk..
What do you mean correctly? Wrong Keyboard layout ?I tried the "keyboard button" from lower right corner, but it didn't pop up keyboard correctly.
You do need to enable "Accessibility" Checkbox in Build Core
What Shell ? Explorer or WinXshell..
What Arch Build? x64
Also there is in "System Tools" > "SlideTo ShutDown" For Touch Screens...
Note: Do Not Have Touch Screen Device To Test On - So Rely on Users For Feedback
Is it possible to add a service or to auto-run a program at startup?
The reason I want to do this is so I can start Thottlestop and my Fan control software as early as possible so I can under-volt and prevent overheating.
I have to do this with both normal Windows and Linux else overheating causes shutdown on boot. Your rescue disk did save me yesterday (thanks) but I had to leave my laptop outside for half an hour to get cold before it worked as the first couple of times it got too hot and just shut down.
I'd point out my laptop is from 2006 and on its last legs but there may well be some other more general reason to want to automatically start services or programs. I just don't see how to do it.
Edit > \Win10XPE\Projects\Include\x64\AdditionalFiles\Windows\System32\autorun.cmd
That Autorun.cmd is copied into every build..
OR
Use "Edit pecmd.ini" Button on Build Core
to autorun your program PostShell
Code:EXEC %ProgramFiles%\ThrottleStop\ThrottleStop.exe
