Living Cookbook is a database program. It keeps its data in two places...
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Radium Technologies\Living Cookbook\5.0\
C:\ProgramData\Radium Technologies\Living Cookbook\5.0\
..and the database files have an .mdb extension which usually means a Microsoft Access database.
I'm wondering if the database became corrupted during the Reset? The uninstall of Living Cookbook would have left the user's data alone. Maybe it's this old data that causes the crash?
I've already run it enough times (five) for it to start nagging me to back up the database, so @Reflexwolf should have been making regular backups. It's in a file called LC backup.lcb.
I would suggest first making sure Reflexwolf has this backup somewhere safe. Then I would uninstall Living Cookbook again. Before attempting to reinstall it, delete the Radium Technologies folders in both AppData and ProgramData. See if it will install then. If so, then try restoring the database backup (apparently restore is disabled in the trial mode).
I see what you mean, on the http://www.livingcookbook.com/Support page the Submit a support ticket link gets a 'website not found' error, and tracert to support.radiumtechnologies.com ends up at unallocated.barefruit.co.uk [92.242.132.15]
But that's not all, every 'Buy now' link gets 'HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable' as does anything else on store.radiumtechnologies.com.
And there's more, the link to 'Other Products Home Inventory Pro' at the bottom of the home page goes to a site that no longer has anything to do with Radium Technologies. The last time 'Home Inventory Pro 2011' was seen on that site by the Wayback Machine was March 03 2018.
It seem highly unlikely that there is anyone left who could give you official support...
its installing for what its worth, no problem, but when it tries to run it gets that system.outofmememory error tossed out.
Steve C, I did try that it wouldn't work, the system had some error at the time that wouldn't even let me do windows up dates. trust me I tried all my options before that.
Bree, its very sad as the program its self is wonderful and extremely useful. we have a very strong user base sharing recipes on a daily bases I would just hate to have to migrate to another system. that might not be as good. if I can get it working again then I'll keep using this program till it wont work anymore its that good.
Well, I have shown that it will install and run on the latest version 1803 (at least for the 32-bit version). It may be something about having done a Reset that has made it not work on your system. You could try a clean install and see if it works then. I see no reason why it shouldn't work on 1803 x64 too. When you had it running before, was that on x86 or x64 Windows 10?
Hi, two thoughts: first you said you were having problems with updates (not that uncommon)... but maybe there's some underlying issue. Try checking your disk anyway as a matter of routine:
chkdsk c: /scan
should generate a report (but not fix anything).
Try Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - great at giving a clear quick indication, else you could use HD Tune.
After that, some OS issue as @Bree has just commented. As you've reset, it's no great step to a clean install. But check your disk anyway before doing so.
Then looking at your report, it uses Visual Basic.
You could try reinstalling that.
Download Microsoft Visual Basic Runtime - MajorGeeks
Bree yes I have always used win 64, I would very much not like to have to do a clean install of windows just to get it to possibly run :)
Daichina I ran the Hard Disk Sentinel disk looks good to it. I'm testing and reinstalling the full VB suit to update it now just because. perhaps that needs to be done the runtime you sent me to didn't help.
Bree oh, that's interesting, I'll try taking VB off system for the moment and then try ruining LC
