Bree that is an idea, did you see where the old db is hiding?
You must have skipped my post #12

...It keeps its data in two places...

    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Radium Technologies\Living Cookbook\5.0\
    C:\ProgramData\Radium Technologies\Living Cookbook\5.0\

...I've already run it enough times (five) for it to start nagging me to back up the database, so @Reflexwolf should have been making regular backups. It's in a file called LC backup.lcb.

I would suggest first making sure Reflexwolf has this backup somewhere safe. Then I would uninstall Living Cookbook again. Before attempting to reinstall it, delete the Radium Technologies folders in both AppData and ProgramData. See if it will install then. If so, then try restoring the database backup...

thank you Bree, I think we might be making a little progress. first I do have back ups done, I did one right before doing the reset actually.

ok, I deleted the radium technologies files in both places.
I then reinstalled the LC program and ran it, this time we got a little different response, before it got to the splash screen and hung there then crashed, now the splash opens and closes before the crash.
not quite sure what that means as its doing the same error just going farther in it looks like.

I don't suppose you make system images with something like Macrium Reflect Free? If you did this would be the ideal time to restore one from before you did the Reset. On these forums we constantly recommend making system images for just this reason.

What I would do next is make a system image to an external HDD before going much further.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect | Windows 10 Tutorials

The try some simple repair steps on you Windows system to see if we can undo whatever the Reset has changed. Run sfc /scannow followed by Dism's RestoreHealth - repeat these two steps until no errors are found.

Then try installing Living Cookbook again.

If this still fails, do the in-place repair install. This is NOT like a Reset, it sounds drastic but there is nothing to fear. You will keep all your installed apps and files, in fact you will be hard pressed to see anything different after it is done.

In that case, you might want to download the Media Creation Tool and make the 1803 ISO now for the final step, the in-place repair upgrade. Come mid-October when 1809 is expected to be released the MCT will make 1809 install media.

Alternatively, postpone the repair upgrade until 1809 is out. An upgrade to the next version would be just as effective at repairs, plus you get the upgrade out of the way at the same time.

Either way, I'm subscribed to this thread so I'll know when you return to it.

Bree do you know what kind of size it will end up? I have a full 1tb drive and no room to move extra files off till I can get a new drive in a month or so.

The install media for 1803 x64 is about 3.5GB, tell the MCT to make a USB stick if you haven't got room for the ISO on the HDD.

So Bree asked about x86 or x64.

I think Bree you installed and got app working on an x86 Windows 10, did I read this right?

Reflexwolf is using an x64 system. Is there a library or runtime needed that is 32 bit?
I installed it on x64 and it worked fine so I don't think there is anything special required. Not sure why it doesn't work for Reflexwolf but 64 bit instead of 32 bit shouldn't cause an issue.
