    Found information on combase, it's a busy .dll: Windows 10 DLL File Information - combase.dll (nirsoft.net) All sorts of ways that it could mess up.

    Yeah, googled for it myself before and noticed that. Only one week to go for patch tuesday to see if MS would give this .dll file some attention.

    The issue is pretty much WMP itself since I was also able to provoke the crash right after a clean install without the WMP library containing any music files.
