[SOLVED] Can't open pbd files (EaseUS Todo Backup)

So I installed the app a few days ago, and created pbd images can be opened through explorer (Todo Backup adds a dll library or something, I don't know exactly how they do it). But I had to uninstall, then I restored a copy... now pbd files does not open. Something that looks like a window seems to make the attempt to open but nothing else.

I've look on the registry and this is the command: explorer /idlist,%I,%L

Is not like it is a vital issue, but I would like to know what is broken here.

    Thanks.

Hi, here's the Easeus manual on this:
How to explore the image file without recovery?

An example of use of pbd files in recovery:
EaseUS ToDo Backup - Part 2: Recover Windows from System Image - YouTube
    at about 5:50.

    (Sorry, text is barely legible).

Have you ever had anything useful happen by trying to open those via file explorer? How are you trying to do that? You will probably find double clicking one ineffective.

Check here to see whether there's an association for that file type:

Yes, I was able to open it with explorer by just double clicking it at first. Then I uninstalled the app, performed an in place upgraded, reinstalled the app and restore the partition, and now when I double click it nothing happens.

I doubt explorer can't open those files, the app does something to the system so they can be explored, but whatever that is has become corrupt or broken or missing to me and I can't do it.

Is not a major problem I know, but it bothers me.

    Anyone knows where to look?

    Thanks.

You can only double click meaningfully on them if there is a meaningful file association for them.

I have shown you where to check. Windows per se without the Easeus software correctly installed will know nothing about the pbd file type.

Try repairing (if the option exists) or re-installing Easeus Todo Backup.

It is "explorer.exe" from Microsoft Windows the default app that it is supposed to work, not some exe from EaseUS. EaseUS does something to the system so explorer.exe can open it. The association is fine on my PC, only nothing happens. I even showed you the command on the first post, if you check it you will see "explorer".

You can install the trial and try, or do it in a VM if you don't want to mess with your system.

Reinstalling and repairing did nothing. I have also uninstalled Todo Backup, used the removal tool, searched the registry to delete all traced of EaseUS, clear cache, temp files and registry... nothing works.

I think my only option is to check how the process works on a computer without the problem, but I don't know how to do that.

Pardon, but this line is confusing. You uninstalled Easeus, did an In-Place upgrade/Repair, installed Easeus, and restored a partition. It's the last part that is not clear at all, to me. What partition did you restore, and why?

If you restored C: partition (from somewhere) after all the other steps, didn't you just overwrite all that work with whatever was on the partition you restored? Sorry if I'm not following correctly. I'm most likely missing something.........

I don't know which caused the issue, probably not that, I was just adding some context for the issue.

I have installed a VM and it works there. Any diagnostic I can do to find out how it works?
