Store apps close immediately, Event 10010 with DistributedCOM

    Good evening,

I've started experiencing this error a few days ago (2-3 days). Every store app I open it closes immediately.
The Calendar, Calculator, even Windows Store itself.

The Event log shows the following for the Calendar:

The server microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_16005.10325.20117.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe!microsoft.windowslive.cal endar did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

    Code:
    - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
    - <System>
      <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM" Guid="{1B562E86-B7AA-4131-BADC-B6F3A001407E}" EventSourceName="DCOM" />

      </EventData>
      </Event>
    For Windows Store is similar:

The server Microsoft.WindowsStore_11807.1001.13.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe!App did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

So far I'm not the only one affected, there are other 2 co-workers with same issue that have been confirmed.

    What I've done?

Basically followed what it was suggested here:
Fix: The server did not register with DCOM within the required timeout - Appuals.com

The only method I couldn't complete was the 3rd one (fixing the windows store certificate), whenever I execute the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter is asking me to sign up with a Microsoft account which I haven't setup, trying to add an account doesn't work since it tries to open the Windows Store app and you can see it closing immediately.

I'm now feeling a bit frustrated since I'm not able to view my calendar events, my email, etc.
So I really appreciate if anyone can throw some light on where to look at.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi ddesmet. Welcome to the TenForums @ddesmet

Interesting that it should happen to three devices in one environment. Wonder if something specific to your apps you run.

Might be difficult to identify. Are you using any special AV products or privacy?

What was installed 2-3 days ago. Please check Windows update history and also look at your apps in settings. Then sort by install date.

I would start with Option 1 of this tutorial.

Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10

If that fails I would do the inplace repair / upgrade. This will upgrade you to 1803 if you are not already using. If that is an issue please stop. I recommend you back up personal data on device.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

    Indeed.
Regarding the AV, I'm running ESET latest version, another is using Bitdefender and the 3rd have no AV other than what Windows provides.

No software installed in any of the 3, just this update:

Will that command also reinstall the App Store?
I've Ubuntu installed from the store with some customizations, will it be lost or the command just re-installs the default stock ones?

We all 3 are running on latest windows build (1803), I've been considering on trying to hold up until the October update, I'm personally trying to avoid reinstalling all the tools I need for my day-to-day work.

A co-worked suggested me to take the leap and join the Windows Insider program to get the latest bits and hope it fixes the issue but feels a bit adventurous considering it is like a beta and I might get other kind of bugs.

    Update:

Just came back from re-installing and re-registering all Windows Store Apps (even the Store itself I noticed) and still having the same issue. Did a reboot just in case after command finished.

PS. I wanted to edit the previous post but it's still pending for approval by a mod. Hope I don't sound like spamming.

I would then try to inplace repair / upgrade.

You mentioned all the tools you have installed. Is this replicated across the other two devices?

    Have you ever tried this?

i have a same problem, have you ever try this solution?

If they do, fire up an elevated command prompt and run "sfc /scannow."

If this solution does not work, right click on your C:\ drive and select "Properties." Go to the Security tab. Click "Edit." Select "Add." In the text box asking for object names, type ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES. Press OK, then select the new entry "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" and, under Allow in the box below, click "Full Control." Press "Apply." PERFORM THIS LAST SOLUTION AT YOUR OWN RISK. This gives downloaded apps from the Store complete access to your computer.

First of all, sorry for late reply. I was mugged and ended at the hospital, hence why I didn't reply earlier.

Did the upgrade, it took some time to finish but unfortunately I still have the same issue... :-\

Only some are used in the other two devices, for example in one device the only common app is Firefox, in the other is Visual Studio. There are other dev machines that use VS but ain't affected.

Thanks, I did the sfc scan and it didn't fix it.

Also, this is the result of executing dism:

    Code:
    dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 10.0.17134.1

    Image Version: 10.0.17134.254

[==========================100.0%==========================] No component store corruption detected.
    The operation completed successfully.

I don't think I will go with this solution since it is a work PC.

Sorry to hear you were mugged. Hope you are okay.

Lets see about reset Store Cache

Clear and Reset Store Cache in Windows 10

How about a clean boot, not install, boot.

Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

Very much doubt FF caused issue and Visual studio shouldn't. You said you had eset, someone else Bitdefender and the 3rd was Windows Defender. Nothing common their.

Any chance you have an outlook.com, hotmail, msn or live email account. They all qualify for MS account.

The reset command didn't work but I did remove the registry entries. Still the issue is present.

No linked account, actually, when I ran the Store Apps troubleshooter it couldn't proceed since it was asking me for an MS account and I didn't setup one with Windows Store since I didn't install any extra apps (only using the ones that came with Windows).
