Not sure where to go from here.

Might suggest creating a new user and seeing if the problem follows.

Three systems all at once, very strange.

Could you also try a second tool for malware scan. Something like malwarebytes.

Tried with that too and with a restore point earlier before posting here, no luck at all.
Been searching on the net and several posts regarding permissions on registry and DCOM Config, tried all those and none have worked, I've reverted my changes back just in case.

I will try installing Malwarebytes and report back.
I'm now considering on waiting for the October update to kick in and try my luck. If it doesn't work I guess I will go with a Repair Upgrade.

Btw, Is there a way to get a more detailed log when any Store App crashes?

I would try the repair upgrade. Simple process.

Not sure on dump. I guess you could dump memory but then you would need someone to read.

Saw another post today, haven't read yet, their store apps are also on the blink.

    Hi ddesmet,

We have the exact same issue with one of our customers. 22 out of around 100 clients have this problem. I've tried all the solutions mentioned in this topic, but nothing works.
The first reports of this problem came in around the begin of August, but since two weeks we didn't receive any new reports.
All clients are up to date. If you manually check for updates, Windows can't find any. Perhaps Microsoft pushed a "bad" update for the store and deleted it afterwards?

Happened exactly to my computers as well. About a dozen of them can't run any modern apps since about last week. Approximately same time as when you did.

Thought it was an update that broke the apps. But removing them one update at a time didn't help.

Have been following this thread closely whilst starting a new thread in Microsoft's forum.

Tried all the fix that I could find on the internet and failed miserably. Even broke one of the computer's registry/access rights.

My last attempt was doing an Upgrade/Repair install "while retaining the files and apps". That costed me 3hrs. Doesn't work.

Only way I see could work was to do a complete factory reset. Or wait out for any fix that Microsoft would dish out in later months.

I'm glad that I'm not alone on this.

Will reply on that thread after this. Btw, I did install Malwarebytes and it didn't found anything. :-(

I received another update from MS after the apps stopped working. Was hoping it was a fix but nope.

On another note, I noticed that Windows was set to receive updates from other computers on the network, not sure if is related, maybe some missing bits from those computers that messed up with the update?

I did a system restore and it didn't also help :-(

It is possible that you post here the link of the thread you created at their forum? Maybe if we join forces the thread can be noticed even more? Just throwing some ideas... feeling frustrated at it.

I took the leap and moved to the latest bits of the upcoming October update (joined as an Insider), fortunately the system feels stable but the Apps are still crashing... I was hoping the upgrade could fix it but sadly it didn't :-\

    Sure...

On the Restore method, it worked on only one of the PCs. The rest doesn't work either. To only way to solve it is basically to do a fresh re-install.

I did that for a couple of users who was furious that they can't open JPG files in their beloved photo viewer app! And they also refuse to use other application to open up JPG.

The affected update was probably also removed from the list on MS Servers. I've brought the re-installed PCs to the latest update and doesn't seem to have the same problem.

For the rest of the users, I had to announce in my company group email that MS screwed up and probably hoping (and praying) for a patch in coming weeks.

On our clients, this option is disabled, so this doesn't seem to be related with the issue.

I've also created a topic on the Microsoft forum. Looking at the topic of p33pm3, the same users are replying and posting the same possible solutions.

Windows 10 Store and apps closes immediately. - Microsoft Community

I did a clean install of one of the clients and installed all updates. Everything keeps working.
I think we need to wait for a fix from Microsoft :-( .

    Hi,

I faced the same problem - the window store crashed and so did the camera app. The problem was solved by installing the media feature pack (Download Windows 10 Media Feature Pack).

I am hoping that this would solve the problem also for others.
