When you start it automatically, through the startup tab within task manager, is the task actually started with Windows, you can see it in the processes tab of task manager and its running, but no icon is displayed in Notification area.

I guess what I'm saying is does automated start actually start it but fails to show icon in Notification area?

Reset notification area via batch file here. Then reboot and see if the icon appears.

No, it is not shown in Taskmanager > Processes.

R]I ran this batch file, but it did not help (which I understand, because Task Manager > Processes does NOT show WinDates).

I am back to the conclusion that Win 10 can run WinDates manually, but not automatically at startup (via link). If I double-click on the link C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\WinDates.lnk, WinDates opens fine.

My next step will be to run a scan of system files to see if something is corrupt. However, any other suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks for checking task manager.

I think the answer is what I suggested in beginning.

Create a Task in the task scheduler. I gave you link to How To Geek. Maybe create a batch file, one liner to start exe.

I did a Task Scheduler thing and forgot to tell here. Did not work. Not surprised now, since Win13 refuses to open WinDates automatically. Will reread your post. Batch file route seems the way to go.

Just to check- did you run the INSTALLER in compatibility mode- or just the program AFTER installing it? I did the first.

FYI: It worked for me just by running the installer.

Launches on startup and I see the icon in the system tray.

You must have something else interfering with it.

Try launching from an elevated shortcut instead.

No, I did not run the installer in compatibibty mode. Only after installing. I will uninstall and then install again.

If by "elevated shortcut" you mean WinDates properties > Shortcut > Advanced > Check "Run as administrator", I already have that. Made no difference when I did it.
