    Net Framework

    Hello,
I do not know when or how this .Net Framework was installed. It is not listed in the installed programs.
    (The only user is me)
    Found it in two places:
    1. C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET
    2. a. C:/Users/.NET v4.5
    2. b. C:/Users/.Net v4.5 Classic
Searching the internet I found it is used by programers, which I am not.
Looked in the registry, it started version 2, 3, and now its 4.5.
    Qustions:
Do I need it in my system ? what for ?
If I do not need it, how to uninstall it, as said above it is not listed in programs list.
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Motim

Comes with Windows. Needed to support some programs.

If you use a search engine (Google is a good one) you may find articles rather readily such as these:

(had to put spaces in 'cos this site makes a mess of lifehacker links)

That sounds normal to me. I actually do need the older .net framework for an application and that has to b enabled manually. If you look in Control Panel and select Programs and Features and then click Turn Windows Features on or off at the left hand side you should see something like this. I added the tick to enable the older .net framework.

    Hello,
    OK, thanks for the answer.
But why in two places, in one place it apears as a user ?
    Thanks.

I have the first you list, not these:
    2. a. C:/Users/.NET v4.5
    2. b. C:/Users/.Net v4.5 Classic

    1. is the normal location where Windows installs it, however it could also be anywhere installed by an application that needs it, which accounts for yours listed in 2.
    It won't be listed separately.
I have a version of .NET installed which is obvious as it's in the Program Folders of the application that uses it.

I always use this to check .NET Framework versions:

    I get this:

Hey Callendar! Looks like an interesting program, but I get this warning from Norton when I try to access the URL:
    Net Framework-image.png

Can you vouch for this page? I'm loathe to visit it without some expectation of a successful and virus-free download.
    Thanks,

I just checked the file at virustotal. 100% clean. False positive from Norton, apparently. Thanks! Informative program, too.

It's fine. I reckon that Norton won't like unsigned executables.

RE: Unspecified .NET Framework error - you posted in another thread. A recent problem with third party software and .NET Framework error on my machine was resolved by downloading the offline installer for 4.7.2 and installing it.

Software is okay. Norton doesn't like the download link:

Report for asoft-ware.com | Norton Safe Web

I just downloaded the file and monitored connections using Telerik Fiddler and also Essential Net Tools and there was never a connection to the malicious domain listed.
