    How do I get the current version of Skype?


    Skype keeps threatening to abandon me if I don't upgrade to the latest version, but I can't figure out how.

    I found a typical Microsoft explanation that was of no value. I don't have a
    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder so the address they gave doesn't work. Classic Microsoft!

    Are you running the skype app or the old Skype for desktop program, the Classic Skype?

    This is all very confusing. I can't figure out how to check the version I'm using but a friend is using V12.?? and the interface/appearance is entirely different. So, I was trying to upgrade to V12 but when I try it says "already installed" which is obviously wrong.

    In Windows 10, you have can have the Skype app from the Microsoft Store, or the desktop version.

    I didn't find it on your link but I found a procedure here

    I used the procedure given but it didn't give the version number. So I clicked on a thing called 'Skype Status' on the screen it sent me to and it sent me here

    I thought you meant this link (Time to Upgrade to the latest 8.0 version of Skype for desktop - Windows 10 Forums) you posted. When I found the link you meant is gave the version as 8.25.05
