There are benefits, but not as "everyday" type maintenance. I don't clean the registry just to clean the registry. It is a troubleshooting method for me, when I'm having software issues and I suspect rogue registry entries.

Again, I don't see a reason to clean the registry unless you have a specific reason to do so. In those cases, CCleaner is a valuable tool and is actually pretty safe to use.

I have no issues with Registry cleaners when used by a sufficiently knowledgeable individual to solve a specific problem. Unfortunately they are frequently used by novices who have only a hazy understanding of what the registry is. That is a dangerous combination.

Powerful tools require knowledge and skill to use them effectively. In the hands of a skilled surgeon a scalpel is a life saving tool. In the hands of the unskilled it is dangerous.

Another question. Why do you need to cleaning the registry ?
To prevent problems, they same way you run AV to prevent malware.
I run an automatic deep reg cleaning daily, when shutting down PC.

on Mike's choice. I believe he turned a lot of us on to it, and it's good. I particularly like the Slimming feature.

Each AV's site usually offers a cleanup tool and manual uninstallation instructions.
    E.g. searching for
    Avast manual uninstall
may work, or browse the site (obviously for your particular AV).

Ccleaner will be of no particular help and is not designed to help in this situation- 3rd party tools are not recommended to 'help' in uninstalling AV programs.
Sorry, but that is false information. CCleaner does work. I've used it over the past 7 years. I use it to clean my registry, and uninstall things, instead of using Windows' Default uninstaller. It works more than the default.

I am afraid there is left over data from the software that i removed. So do i need to use 3rd cleaner such as CCleaner for it?
If the left over data makes you afraid, sure, use CCleaner or some other similar product.

I used CCleaner for 10 years.

I uninstalled it probably a year ago.

I have replaced my CCleaner addiction with a Storage Sense addiction. I do feel dirty and I'm pretty sure I'm something of an "untouchable" if I don't use any such product, but I'm not proud of it.

I'm not sure if addiction is a better reason than being afraid.

    I keep telling myself it's a want, not a need, but that's clearly self-deception.

Easier and Free .....well both CCleaner and Wise Disk Cleaner ARE FREE .....but in your case, I would recommend Wise Disk Cleaner, because there is no paid version, and it does not try to install a 3rd party AV like the free version of CCleaner.
Use the link I posted for Wise Disk Cleaner ....keeping your PC clean is a normal part of regular maintenance, and every user should keep their computer as clean as possible.

I keep my computer clean, but I don't use ccleaner. I use a dust cloth. Actually, my wife does that for me.

She doesn't try to install third-party software ... but she does move around all the stuff on my desk.
