running windows 10 version 1709 build 16299.431 on Dell Inspiron laptop
Microsoft Edge , Skype, and Store disappear from the task bar after running for a while; if I restart laptop they temporarily show up, then disappear again. Also, Microsoft "Photos" viewer will not work.
I am using Chrome browser and saw some old references to that somehow causing a problem, in the past?
You could try
Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
- that might at least fix Photos - assuming there's not more significant corruption.
When did this start happening? Can you provide any history?
Basic checks:
From an admin command prompt run
chkdsk c: /scan
If ok, run
SFC /SCANNOW
and report the result.
Compare by creating a new user for test purposes, logging in as that user and seeing what if you observe the same thing or not..
If you do, that then suggests a more basic level of problem requiring further steps.
So, I waited a few days without trying anything and restarted the laptop again. This time I did not start the Chrome browser, just used Microsoft Edge . I also used the Microsoft Photo app successfully.
I let it up for 20 hours and nothing bad happened. So then I closed Edge browser and opened Chrome. It has been running fine for 3 hours, so I guess I will just wait and see if it reoccurs.Strange??
