    MBAM & system restore

Because I have free MBAM I do not have access to the forum so cannot post there.
I have windows 1803 and it cannot run system restore with MBAM.
There is nothing I can disable that will allow it to run especially as I have the free version.
I tried disabling all I coud but got the same error others got that there is an anti malware program stopping system restore.
This issue is all over the web but most of the posts do not mention free.
Do I have to uninstall it?

The free version shouldn't have anything to do with your system restore.....if we're talking about the same thing as to what "system restore" means. The free version is not running in the background because it doesn't have any real time protection.

So here are some questions: What do you mean by "system restore"? What did you try to disable? What is the exact error message you're getting?

System restore that is native to Windows 10 it brings you back to a previous time when the computer was working properly the error message says that an antivirus program prohibited the function from working

Unless you're still in the 14-day free trial of 'Premium', but you can end the trial in MBAM's account settings if that's the case. As an on-demand free scanner MBAM can't interfere with system restore.

However, system restore is quite capable of failing on its own without any outside assistance, such as here...

That's why for a reliable way to return to a previously known good system it is strongly recommended here to make regular system images. Macrium Reflect (free) is what most recommend.

Can you post a pic of the exact error message you are getting? Plankton is correct, MBAM free is just a scanner, no realtime running.

I don't use System Protection/System Restore at all, due to it's unreliability. Macrium is my "System Restore" tool.

Such as here on the MBAM forum...
    https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topi...ing-with-v306/
...but that should only apply if MBAM is providing active protection, either as the full product or while the 'free trial' has yet to expire.

Might be something to do with win10. I don't have that issue with win7.

Are you sure there are no mbam services running?
