Cortana not fully gone in 1803

    Hello,

Just upgraded to 1803 and found the tweaks used to remove Cortana in 1709 aren't fully working in 1803.

Enable or Disable Cortana in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

I'm getting Cortana popups looking to get out to the internet (we use a proxy server).

I get the popups when opening the Start Menu and/or the Search pane.

Any idea what has changed and how I can completely disable Cortana again?

I'm also getting internet access requests from other "modern apps", such as Paint3D, which I did not get back in 1709.
I'd like to disable these requesting internet access as well.

    Thanks.

    You might try disabling this:

Also note apps are frequently updated. If you wish to stop that you could try disabling the relevant scheduled task if you're never going to use them.

As for Cortana- I leave well alone. I use a replacement start menu with its own search box, so never need to worry about Cortana. Not an issue for me.

The amount of traffic generated would only be significant to those with a severely limited internet connection. Unless you subscribe to the view of the tin-hot MS conspiracy party of course.
