Change Name of Program on Windows Key

I have a program that is on my Windows Key when I press it. It is a Ham Radio Program, although that does not matter. It is Called WSJT-X and was version 1.7 at the time. It has since been updated to 1.9, but the title in the W listings is still 1.7. How can I change this to reflect WSJT-X 1.9?

If you find the icon you can normally change it by browsing and often its in the exe file or a program dll. If you create a shorcut on the desk top to the new exe does it show a new icon its possible they havent updated the icon. You could edit the icon to what you want but its a pain

If you are asking about changing the name of a tile on the start screen (what shows when you select the Windows key), then right click on the tile.
Then select more. Here select open file location.
Then right click on the program name and select rename.

No, I am not talking about the icon. When I hit the Windows key all the apps show up in alphabetical order. When I get down to the W's I see WSJT-X 1.7.0 and I want it to say 1.9.1 but it will not let me change the NAME. The links are OK so when I do open what it thinks is 1.7.0 it IS 1.9,1 I just wanted it to say so.

There is no tile...it only shows up in the alphabetical list on the left. Also, there are 3 clickable items under the WSJT-X 1.7.0 main item. It is that main item name that I wish to change.

    Hey MPSAN,
You'll need to rename the folder and it should be under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs OR C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Note: On one of the sub menu items if you right click > more > open file location ... It will put you in the folder, so you'll have to go up one level to actually rename the folder.

I've found it easier to uninstall a program, reboot and reinstall either paying attention to the Folder name it will be installed in or if offered choosing Custom install and specify what I want. Usually it's just getting the version number out of the name.

No, it will not work. If I rename it the program will not start. What a strange system. I mean, what the left alphabetized programs are called should not matter!

I am about ready to leave it alone as it is all working just with an incorrect name.

Right, it's the name of the Folder in either C:\Program Files [on 32-bit or 64-bit] or in C:\Program Files (x86) that is the issue, it is part of the Path to the .exe/executable file that runs the program that Windows looks for. Changing just one character in the Path breaks it. This is a typical Path to a small app:
    C:\Windows\System32\winver.exe
