Windows Media Player download?
I deleted Windows Media Player and cannot find a viable download to restore it. Is there a source that will work?

Good suggestion but it's not there anymore. When I delete 'em they are gone. All the downloads I could find are for XP and will not install in Win 10.

Should you exhaust all possible solutions but unfortunately failed, I would suggest doing a Repair Install.
Use this tutorial:

You should be able to reinstall WMP easily in Settings > Apps > Manage optional features:
Select Add a feature:
Scroll down and select Windows Media Player, select Install:
Easy and fast.

It's 11:20 PM and I'm getting sleepy. So I'll come back tomorrow. --but I just found out there is something called powershell_ise. And there are color themes available for it.

For me it is 5:34 AM, a bit later than to you. Going to bed soon, too, but I want to say this first:
It took me a full minute to first uninstall Windows Media Player, then reinstall it to be able to make screenshots to you.
Of course, it's not my business. You can naturally ignore the absolutely fastest and easiest method to reinstall WMP and try whatever methods you want to. Your computer, your choice.
By the way, PowerShell ISE is the same than PowerShell, only difference being more modern extended user interface with integrated script editor. The commands are the same; if something you have tried does not work in PowerShell, it does not work in PowerShell ISE.

Kari, I tried the setting that you showed and it did restore a shortcut to WMP in the start menu. But it did not reinstall the program. There is no "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" on this computer. When you deleted the program you probably deleted the app. That simply removes the shortcut but not the program.
I played with the idea of installing a fresh copy of Windows 10 on a partition of my backup hard drive, just to have access to the installed program. But realized that copying it to my active installation wouldn't work because the registry settings would be missing.
Is it likely that a repair reinstall of Windows would restore the program?
... Oops, I forgot, Davidhk already suggested that. I think I'll try it.
